Color is a significant component of computer aided visualization of information, concepts and ideas. The use of color in all applications of computer graphics enhances the image, clarifies the information presented, and helps distinguish features that are obscure in black and white pictures.

Color is all around us. It is a sensation that adds excitement and emotion to our lives. Color plays an important role in the human perception and interpretation of the visual world. Color derives from the spectrum of light interacting in the eye with the spectral sensitivities of the light receptors.
In order to understand color we need a brief overview of light. Without light, there would be no color.
Light is made up of energy waves which are grouped together in what is called a spectrum. Light that appears white to us, such as light from the sun, is actually composed of many colors. The wavelengths of light are not colored, but produce the sensation of color.
The three Color category: Primary colors can be arranged in a circle, commonly refered to as a color wheel. Red, Green and Blue (RGB). In between the primary colors are the secondary colors, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow (CMY). The other mixture of color consider as Tertiary colors.
Types Of Colors
Primary Colors • the pure component colors.
Secondary Colors • equal mixtures of two primary colors.
Tertiary Colors • unequal mixtures of two or more primary colors.
Color Terms
Hue • means color.
Saturation • means amount of a color you apply.
Brightness • How much light you apply.
Transparency • How much you can see trough.
Shades • A shade is produced by dimming a hue.
Tints • A tint is produced by lightening a hue.
Color Diagrams
Color is used to differentiate elements in the diagrams so that the comparative information is read and understood rapidly and accurately. Color visualization techniques increase the amount of information that can be integrated into the visual message or picture, and thus create layers of information.
