HOW TO INSTALL WINDOWS XP

Learn How To Install Windows XP on computer desktop or laptop. This is step By step method for beginners with screenshots. You can easily install windows XP by below steps. Installing Windows XP can be a bit difficult and time consuming, especially when compared to the installation processes in Microsoft's newer operating systems.

You need to have ISO Windows XP bootable CD/DVD or USB drive to be able to install Windows XP.
Learn how to Create Bootable Media.
If you already have bootable CD/DVD or USB drive then you can skip this part.
Before we go to Windows XP installation, first you need to change the first boot device of your computer BIOS to be able to boot your bootable CD/DVD or USB drive.

Now that were done with creating bootable media and changing first boot device, we are now ready to Windows XP installation.
01 • To boot from a CD or USB drive: Just press a key to force the computer to boot from the CD or USB drive.
Turn ON your computer and wait to black screen to show up. When you see the "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD..." simply press any key on your keyboard.
Note: If you dont press any key it will boot direct to your current OS. If this happens, simply reboot and try to boot to the CD or USB drive again.
02 • Do not press F6 Just proceed to the next one.
Note: As long as you are performing this clean install from a Windows XP CD, this step is probably not necessary.
03 • Press Enter to Set Up Windows XP.
Since this will be a clean installation of Windows XP, press Enter to setup Windows XP now.
04 • Wait while system is loading.
Read: After the necessary files and drivers are loaded, the Windows XP Setup screen will appear.
05 • Press Enter to Set Up Windows XP.
Read: Since this will be a clean installation of Windows XP, press Enter to setup Windows XP now.
06 • Read the agreement then press F8.
Note: Read through the agreement and confirm that you agree with the terms.
07 • Press ESC To Install a Fresh Copy of Windows XP.
Important: If you have a new or otherwise empty hard drive and you were installing Windows XP, you will not see this! Skip this and go to Step 11 instead.
08 • Press D to delete the Existing Windows XP Partition.
Note: Using the arrow keys on your keyboard, highlight the line for the C: drive. It probably says Partition1 or System though yours may be different. Press D to delete this partition.
Warning: This will remove all of the information on the drive that Windows XP is currently on (your C: drive). Everything on that drive will be deleted during this process.
09 • To Confirm Press Enter to continue.
Read: Confirm your knowledge that this is a system partition by pressing Enter to continue.
10 • Press L to delete the Partition you selected.
Note: If you are sure you are ready to proceed, confirm that you wish to delete this partition by pressing the L key.
11 • Press C to create a new partition in the unpartitioned space.
Read: Now that the previous partition is removed, all of the space on the hard drive is unpartitioned. In this step, you will create a new partition for Windows XP to use.
Read: Using the arrow keys on your keyboard, highlight the line that says Unpartitioned space. Press C to create a partition on this unpartitioned space.
12 • Press Enter to Use the default number provided.
Note: For most users, the default number provided will be the maximum space available and the best choice. Press Enter to confirm the partition size.
13 • Select the partition that you created then press Enter.
Read: Highlight the line with the newly created partition and press Enter to set up Windows XP on the selected partition.
Note: Even if you created a partition at the maximum size available, there will always be a relatively small amount of space left over that will not be included in the partitioned space.
14 • Select format the partition using the NTFS file system then press Enter.
Read: Using the arrow keys on your keyboard, highlight the line that says Format the partition using the NTFS file system and press Enter.
Note: NTFS is more stable and secure than FAT and is always the recommended choice for a new Windows XP installation.
15 • Wait while setup formats the partition. It take minutes or hours to complete.
The speed of formatting is Depend on the size of the partition that you are formatting and the speed of your computer.
16 • Wait while setup copies files to the Windows installation folders. This might take several minutes to complete.
Read: Windows XP Setup will now copy the necessary installation files from the Windows XP installation CD to the newly formatted partition the C drive.
17 • Loading information files and saving configuration.
Setup initializes your Windows XP configuration. This may take less than a minute.
18 • To restart your computer press Enter.
Note: When your computer restarts, Setup will continue.
19 • Hands off from keyboard.
Do not press any key on your keyboard! This time you will just let the computer boot up to continue by doing nothing.
20 • You will now see the Microsoft Windows XP logo.
Please wait while Windows XP is loading. This usually only takes a minutes.
21 • Windows XP Installation Begins.
Read: Windows XP will now begin installing. No user intervention is necessary.
Note: The Setup will complete in approximately: time estimation on the left is based on the number of tasks that the Windows XP setup process has left to complete, not on a true estimation of the time it will take to complete them. Usually the time here is an exaggeration. Windows XP will probably be setup sooner than this.
22 • Choose Regional and Language Options. Click Next.
Read: The first and second section allows you to change the default Windows XP language and the default location. If the options listed match your preferences, no changes are necessary.
23 • Enter Your Name and Organization. Click Next.
Read: In the Name: text box, Enter your full name. In the Organization: text box, Enter your organization or business name. Just fill up the form.
24 • Enter the Windows XP product key. Click Next.
Read: In the Product key: text box, Enter a valid product key.
Note: If you are installing Windows XP from a Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) CD, you will not be prompted to Enter a product key at this time.
25 • Click Yes to confirm your product key.
Read: entry of a product key will be required later for continued use of Windows. if you choose not to Enter the product key now, you might need to reinstall Windows later and potentially lose files and information or you might need to purchase another edition of Windows.
Note: We strongly recommend that you Enter your product key now.
26 • Enter a Computer Name. Click Next.
Read: In Computer name: text box, Enter any Computer name.
27 • Set the Date and Time. Click Next.
Read: In the Date and Time Settings window, set the correct date and time for your Windows computer.
28 • Windows XP Installation Continue.
Read: Windows XP will continue installing. No user intervention is necessary.
29 • Choose the Networking Settings. Click Next.
Note: If you are installing Windows XP in on a single computer or a computer on a home network, chances are the correct option to choose is Typical settings.
30 • Windows XP Installation Continue.
Read: Windows XP will continue installing. No user intervention is necessary.
31 • Finalizing installation.
Setup will complete in approximately lessthan 5 minutes. No user intervention is necessary.
Note: Your PC will automatically restart again.
32 • Hands off from keyboard.
Do not press any key on your keyboard! And again just let the computer boot up to continue by doing nothing.
33 • Microsoft Windows Loading.
Please wait while Windows XP is loading. This usually only takes a minutes.
34 • Accept Automatic Display Settings Adjustment. Click OK.
Note: To improve the appearance of visual elements, Windows will automatically adjust your screen resolution after you Click OK.
35 • Confirm Automatic Display Settings Adjustment. Click OK.
Note: Windows adjusted your screen resolution. if you can read the text Click OK to continue.
If you can not read the text on the screen, the screen is garbled or not clear, Click Cancel if you are able. If you can't see the Cancel button don't worry. The screen will automatically revert to the previous setting in 20 seconds.
36 • Microsoft Windows Loading.
Please wait while Windows XP is loading. This usually only takes a minutes.
37 • Microsoft Windows XP flash.

38 • Begin Final Set Up of Windows XP. Click Next.
Read: The Welcome to Microsoft Windows screen appears next, informing you that the next few minutes will be spent setting up your computer.
39 • Select Help protect my PC by turning on Automatic Updates now then Click Next.
With Automatic Updates, Windows can routinely check for the latest important updates for your computer and install them automatically. these updates can include security updates, critical updates, and service packs.
40 • Checking your Internet connectivity. If you like to skip this step, Click Skip.
Note: Windows checks to see if your computer is already connected to the internet.
41 • If ready to activate Windows Select Yes then Click Next. And if not yet ready Select No, remind me every few days then Click Next.
Note: if you wait to activate, you can still use Windows, but you will receive periodic reminders. After 30 days, you must activate Windows before you can continue to use it.
42 • Provide a name for the first user account then Click Next.
Note: In this step, setup wants to know the names of the users who will use Windows XP so it can setup individual accounts for each user. You must Enter at least one name but can Enter up to 5 here.
43 • Finish Final Setup of Windows XP. Click Finish to proceed to Windows XP.
Read: We're almost there! All of the necessary files are installed and all of the necessary settings are configured.
44 • Welcome to Windows XP. Wait for Windows XP to Start.
Please wait while Windows XP is loading. Soon you will be able to see your windows desktop.
45 • Windows XP Clean Installation is Complete!
Congratulations! You successfully installed Windows XP.
Note: Microsoft is no longer supporting Windows XP, which means it will no longer receive essential security fixes. It is recommended that you use a newer version of Windows, such as Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10.
